3/15/2023 0 Comments Half life blue shift speedrun![]() Just run close to them and you'll automatically pick them up. Also, many suit power ups WILL be along your path. Most dead guards and militia will drop weapons and ammo (depending on difficulty setting). I will make note of power ups (75% per charger, about 15% per pickup), medkits, and ammo ONLY if they provide early access to a weapon AND they are convenient, useful, and in the same direction you're already going.I will show a few examples early on in the guide. When I give a specific direction (left or right) if you go the opposite direction you may find a weapon, suit power-up or ammo refills. You don't actually need to wait for anyone save for the intro and those ALREADY assisting you with security clearance. Keep going when someone starts talking to you.You will see who you need to keep via trial and error. Only save those needed for a mission or to activate a retinal scanner or keypad-locked door. Nuzlocke challenges, saving all the guards, killing all enemies, etc) Switch weapons DURING combat when you need to reload. Kill minimal enemies (only the ones blocking your way).Do not deviate unless you have found a shortcut. I recommend doing a speedrun on Easy and doing the Training Room before going even more hardcore This way, you know the basics, and the map.I recommend visiting for even more technical help!.You are expected to troubleshoot things such as travel time (-ing), ammo restocking, health replenishing and combat. This guide is for tips and map directions. Especially in Half-Life, speedrunning can be very frustrating. The record time for finishing HL1 was broken in 2013, which inspired Guides for Games to write this guide. Speedrunning can be very rewarding and can add to your reputation, as people constantly set new world records through videogaming, and other face-to-face sports. If you stick to that mind set, you will find time on your side. It is not advertised as a stealth game, so you should try playing something like Thief or Mark of the Ninja to get an idea of what's required. This would mean that the main categories for /hl1 would be simplified to just WON and Steam, with a difficulty variable being added so that ‘Hard WR’ can still be claimed. When you play HL1 by speedrunning, it turns from a FPS to an action/stealth game. Merging difficulties (Easy + Hard in one category).Half-Life PS2 runner, SuperFrizzio, has been on our backs about this for some time now, so we figured it was finally time to end the silence and come to a decision □ If implemented, current runs using ‘wait’ would remain on the leaderboards as legitimate because up until now using this command has barely saved any time, so current runs are beatable without it. This topic has been brought up again since the discovery of a new method of CLD (changelevel delay) explanation here: Banning the ‘wait’ command in “Scriptless” runs. There’s been alot of discussion in our Discord server recently regarding a number of ideas for the future of Half-Life speedrunning and its leaderboards, so today we’ll be bringing these propositions forward to the whole community to decide if they should be implemented. Runs have been transferred to corresponding categories. The scripted category is split into two: one for runs with the Savewarping/Wrongwarping tricks and one for runs without them.Every setting available in the game’s menu is also allowed to be used. If you are playing on a default config, you are good to go. If your run uses a disallowed command it will get rejected, so make sure to update your binds and configs accordingly. All submitted runs are required to follow the command whitelist. ![]() 30 out of 56 runners have voted, you can view the results here. Another subject that came up was splitting the scripted categories into Savewarp% and No savewarp%. We held a community vote to decide which commands should be allowed and which ones should be banned, as well as introducing a command whitelist to handle the rule. Recently we had a discussion in our Discord server about allowing and disallowing some certain console-exclusive commands that were being used in various speedrunning techniques.
